Frozen Worlds

A Journey into the Delicate Balance Between Ice, Water, and the Existence of Life

The film, a production of Evans & Sutherland and the Houston Museum of Natural Science, with the scientific support of the University of New Hampshire, is an adventurous journey to the Arctic and Antarctic regions. The goal is for the viewer to discover the ecosystems that develop there and to identify how their survival is connected to ours! Ice continues to shape the landscape and natural systems on other planets in our solar system.

The film highlights the delicate balance between ice, water, and life, a relationship that has been the subject of scientific exploration and discovery for many generations. It features captivating scenes created using satellite images and elements from the Antarctic terrain. The camera "cuts" through the ice caps, revealing the region's substrate and then takes us on flights over Antarctica, the Ross Sea, and Mount Erebus. Along the way, the ecosystems of the region are examined, showing how their survival is inextricably linked to our own.
