Darwin: the Mystery of Nature

The 3D film titled "Darwin: The Mystery of Nature" is presented in the Tholos, the Virtual Reality theater of the Hellenic Cosmos. The film promises an adventurous journey of discovering the evolution of life on our planet through Darwin's eyes.


In the Victorian era, many natural phenomena had already been discovered and described based on natural laws, but a more convincing representation of the fundamental mechanism of life was missing. By what process do new species appear to replace those that are disappearing? It was now the right time for a comprehensive interpretation that would "unlock" the mystery of mysteries: life itself.

Darwin's theories on natural selection and the origin of species—including humans—are presented in the film in a spectacular yet accessible way. The magnificent landscape of nature is revealed in all its glory, and the pieces of this scientific puzzle are restored step by step. At the same time, new questions arise, leaving room for new interpretations.

The impressive graphics on the 360° screen of the Tholos, the music by the Budapest Symphony Orchestra, and the narration by actor Giannis Bezou, guarantee that the film "Darwin: The Mystery of Nature" will "enchant" both young and old.

Completion of the Project "Digitization of Sacred Relics of Parish Churches"

With the presence of His Beatitude Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Ieronymos II, the completion event of the co-financed Project "Digitization of Sacred Relics of Parish Churches" with MIS 6003375, organized by the Foundation of Pastoral Education of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, was held with great success and a large turnout of guests on Thursday, October 3, at the «Hellenic Cosmos» Cultural Centre. The purpose of this project was the digital recording of the valuable ecclesiastical relics of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens and the Holy Monastery of Hosios Loukas, which constitute an important part of our country's cultural and spiritual heritage.
