A few words about the Legend of Mulan

The male rabbit has heavy front legs.

The female rabbit has sly eyes,

but when the two rabbits run side by side,

who can tell the female from the male?

"The Ballad of Hua Mulan"

The heroine Mulan is a young woman who, during wartime, disguises herself as a man and goes to the army in place of her father who could not fight in the battle, defying the unjust law that punishes girls who participate in war. Mulan fights with courage and selflessness in battles, hiding her true identity. With her innovative mind and martial skills, she strives in every way to bring great victory to her homeland. Will she succeed? "The Ballad of Hua Mulan" is the legendary narrative of a woman who defies laws and traditions.

Who was Mulan?

Hua Mulan was a female warrior from Chinese history, from the Northern and Southern Dynasties (4th to 5th century AD). In Chinese, "Hua" means flower and "Mulan" means magnolia. The Chinese believe she was a real person. Historians have not concluded whether she is a myth or reality, although they accept historical facts from the poem related to the war.

Myth or reality, Hua Mulan is one of the most legendary women of Ancient China, a symbol of bravery and honor, teaching us that each and every one of us can face the challenges given to us. Her heroic deeds were first recorded in ancient texts and later rephrased. Monuments of her can be found in many places around the world. She is a popular heroine in modern novels, research books, fairy tales, as well as theatrical performances and films.

With a long tradition of producing quality children's performances, the children's stage of Christos Tripodis brings an iconic story to life in an original theatrical production that appeals to both young and old.
