The Foundation of the Hellenic World (FHW) is launching a new collaboration with the Holy Metropolis of Fthiotida, for the digitization and digital promotion of 15 churches-monuments and 60 mobile relics of high cultural, historical, and religious significance under the responsibility of the Metropolis of Fthiotida, as well as the creation of 11 religious routes-destinations and their online presentation using advanced information and communication technologies. His Eminence Metropolitan of Fthiotida Mr. Simeon, Executive Vice President of FHW, Mrs. Sofia Kounenaki Efraimoglou
The project, whose Contracting Authority is the Holy Metropolis of Fthiotida, will focus on providing a modern tool for digital recording, management, promotion, and presentation of the monuments and immovable and movable relics of the Metropolis of Fthiotida, with capabilities for composing, preserving, and utilizing a complete digital representation of the identity and nature of the recorded monuments and works. The online platform that will be created provides access to cultural and pilgrimage sites for anyone interested, either within the actual monument or remotely via mobile phones, computers, virtual reality headsets, and generally from any device with internet access.
The addition of Virtual Reality elements will enhance the quality of the presented virtual information, while users will have the opportunity to experience being physically present in the depicted spaces and "touching" the digitized relics.

This collaboration aims to preserve and highlight the rich religious heritage of our region, leveraging the expertise of the Foundation of the Hellenic World and The "Hellenic Cosmos" Cultural Centre in digital technology and the promotion and dissemination of historical information, combined with the extensive religious wealth of the Metropolis of Fthiotida.

Through our collaboration, we aim to bring the spirit of tradition closer to the people, especially the youth, to highlight the values that unite us, and by utilizing innovative technologies, to showcase our rich religious and cultural heritage to contemporary generations through tools and applications they are accustomed to using."

His Eminence Mr. Simeon stated, "We approach monuments as points of the future rather than just as markers of a glorious past; they are references and compasses for the future. That is why we seek the use of technologies and more. We are already planning our next steps in our minds, which we hope we will be worthy enough to implement. After all, this project is an integral part of the new Museum of Ecclesiastical Culture, which has already been constructed and is in the process of its interior completion."
The project "Digitization of Religious Heritage of the Holy Metropolis of Fthiotida" is carried out within the framework of the action "Digitization and Promotion of Religious Heritage of the Holy Metropolis of Fthiotida (e-HolyMet)," which has been integrated into the Operational Program "Digital Transformation 2021-2027" and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), while the implementation of sub-project 1 has been undertaken by the FHW-Talent AE-Mainsys AE consortium, led by FHW.
