The «Hellenic Cosmos» Cultural Centre of the Foundation of the Hellenic World (I.M.E.) hosts for the second year this year the Global Game Jam [Athens] and offers those who participate the unique opportunity to create a game for the magnificent interactive Tholos, the hemispherical Virtual Reality Theatron it has.
At Global Game Jam [Athens] 2024, participants, in teams, create a game within 48 hours, based on the theme given at the start.
The Global Game Jam [Athens] is aimed at those passionate about game creation, regardless of age, experience, or expertise. A Game Jam is the ideal event to meet and collaborate with new people and generate new ideas.
Many teams formed at similar events have continued beyond the duration of the event. Many games created as prototypes for the event have evolved into fully developed games with complete features and have achieved significant success.
You do not need to have a team to participate in a Game Jam. Often, teams are formed after the theme is presented by people drawn to a common idea. Contrary to what one might believe, this is very important.
This year marks the 10th event held in a physical space, and together with the 2 years of our online presence due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it represents an important goal we have had all these years: the collaboration and networking of game creators.
What we have seen over the years is how important it is to be able to come together and create. It is important to have interaction among creators to exchange ideas and experiences. All this in a friendly environment with people who share the same passion. The passion for game creation.
If you love games, if you want to create your own game, if you want to test the limits of your creativity, we look forward to seeing you on January 26-28.

The judging panel for the award will be composed of I.M.E. staff and will consider, in addition to technical excellence and game quality, the following factors:
- Game duration (ideally 2-5 minutes)
- How the crowd interaction was implemented (is it fun for everyone?)
- Edutainment, meaning it is both Entertaining and Educational
- Suitability for young ages
- Has a theme related to Greek Culture
