Presentation of FHW's publication "Priene"

On 27 November 2000 the book "Priene" was presented at "Hellenic Cosmos", the first publication of the Foundation which was carried out exclusively by its scientific staff.

The book was presented by Mr. Nikolaos Dontas, scientific supervisor and coordinator of the publication, who indicated that its larger part covers the city's architecture, while there are separate chapters that deal with its history, its sculpture and its pottery. Through the examination of those subjects, elements about aspects of the life in Antiquity become evident. Then, the professor of the University of Berlin Dr. W. Hoepfner, who wrote the introductory chapter of the book, took the stand. Mr. Hoepfner presented to the audience the archaeological findings from recent excavations in Priene.
The President of the Foundation Mr. Lazaros Efraimoglou addressed the audience emphasising that one of the basic objectives of the Foundation is the research of the history of Hellenism and the study of Priene is placed within this framework and then followed Mr. Apostolos Trihas, the representative of "Technodomiki", the company that financed the publication.

The presentation was attended by the professors of History and Architecture Mr. Haralambos Bouras and Mr. Manolis Korres, as well as by museum administrators and representatives from archaeological schools, monument curators and a lot of people who filled the Multifunction Theater of "Hellenic Cosmos".
