Event entitled "Ancient Greek Mathematics: their content, course and historical role"

On Wednesday 26 November 2003 the Foundation of the Hellenic World organized an event entitled "Ancient Greek Mathematics: their content, course and historical role". The event was organised due to the exhibition "Is There An Answer To Everything? A journey to the world of Greek mathematics" and attracted the interest of students, scientists etc. The event started with addresses by Mr Lazaros Efraimoglou, the President of the Foundation, and Mr Nikolaos Alexandris, President of the Hellenic Mathematical Society, while followed a speech by Mr Dimitris Efraimoglou, Managing Director of FHW.

Many distinguished scientists participated, such as:

  • Professors Dimitrios Dialetis
  • Theodoros Exarhakos
  • Dionysios Anapolitanos
  • Vassilios Karasmanis, while speeches were delivered by:
  • Mr Apostolos Doxiadis and
  • Mr Tefkros Mihailidis

Ms Andromahi Gazi and Ms Alexandra Nikiforidou, museologists and FHW's external collaborators, presented the exhibition "Is There An Answer To Everything? A journey to the world of Greek mathematics" to the participants.
