On Monday May 10th 2004 the Vice Minister of Culture Mr Petros Tatoulis inaugurated the Virtual Reality programme "A Walk in Ancient Olympia" at the Foundation's cultural centre Hellenic Cosmos.
Mr Lazaros Efraimoglou, President of the Foundation, and Mr Dimitris Efraimoglou, Managind Director of the Faoundation, toured the Vice Minister through all the activities of Hellenic Cosmos and informed him about the Foundation's current and future projects.
Mr Tatoulis visited the exhibition "Tales of the Olympic Games. A unique exhibition", which brings to light unknown aspects of the history of the Games and the Virtual programmes "The Workshop of Phidias in Olympia", "A Walk in Ancient Olympia" that are shown at the "Kivotos" Virtual Reality system. Ancient Olympia is a complete Virtual Reality programme, produced exclusively by the Foundation of the Hellenic World, which enables visitors to "visit" the birthplace of the Olympic Games. The 33 buildings, in other words all the buildings of the Hellenistic Period, but also the temple of Zeus with the god's gold and ivory statue, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world demonstrate the grandeur of the city during its heyday as well as the Olympic ideals.
The Vice Minister also visited the exhibition "Is There An Answer To Everything? A journey to the world of Greek mathematics", which unfolds the long history of the science of mathematics, and learned about the Foundation's printed and electronic publications, as well as of the Foundation's work as a whole.
In addition, the Vice Minister spoke warmly about the new area, "Building 7" of Hellenic Cosmos and was informed about the works for the new buildings ("Tholos" and "Theatron", whose virtual model is shown at the "Kivotos" Virtual Reality exhibit) which will be ready in 2006. Finally, he visited the area that hosted the "Olympic Square" during the Olympic Games.
